The Trophy That Sat Untouched For Over a Hundred Years
It required a major comeback!
The America’s Cup was first competed in 1851.
It’s simply the oldest competition in international sport.
It was first won by the yacht named “America”, hence the name of the race itself.

America’s Cup
The New York Yacht Club (NYYC) won the inaugural race and the NYYC successfully defended their title time and time again…Held every three or four years, they were the dynasty that stretched across generations!
The prestigious America’s Cup trophy sat in the club untouched by human hands for over 100 years.
The trophy sat inside of the NYYC for 132 years to be exact… until one day, it happened. They were finally defeated.
Well, it didn’t just happen… It took vision, sacrifice, dedication, and overcoming extremely wealthy powers that be that attempted to ensure the trophy never left the New York Yacht Club.
In 1983, the Royal Perth Yacht Club represented The Australia II, skippered by John Bertrand, finally won The America’s Cup.
I highly recommend watching the Netflix documentary on the mental toughness needed to overcome such incredible odds.
It’s not about the SETBACK, it’s about the COMEBACK
