I’m not going to say running 20 miles was harder than a 100k. Not at all.

Everything about the 100k was more difficult, except the cold weather.

However, what I am saying is that mentally, when I finished both races, I was done.

Even though, I had ran a 100k in harder conditions on the same course, months before, after the recent 20 mile race, I was done. I couldn’t have gone further.

And it reveals the power of the mind.

Whatever task you set before yourself and commit, your mind will adapt and overcome. But, you must have the belief that you CAN DO IT and this is where I see most people fail.

That deep rooted belief that is needed cracks under extreme duress or they judge themselves too harshly on past performances and a lack of confidence is the result.

It’s NOT about discipline or motivation, it’s about belief.
