Hey Friend
First, what an experience!
The camaraderie, collaboration, and challenge was omnipresent during the event!
It was inspiring to me as a competitor, and I heard from so many visitors who walked away truly motivated.
What took place was being surrounded by like minded individuals, striving and pushing, and the number of people who came out to support was just awe-inspiring.
Here’s how it went down, race wise…
🤢 PUKE & RALLY
I did not puke!
However, around mile 60, I immediately had stabbing pain in the bottom of my foot. We treated it and ignored it as best we could, but it progressively got worse and had to adjust goal around mile 80 ish to gut out 100 miles.
I was shuffling as best I could and despite the pain, was still hanging in.
However, I knew my time on course was limited and I was not going to reach 150. This was harsh reality, but I couldn’t push off the foot and making cut-offs, got closer and closer…
Hence, I re-set the goal to do 100 miles in 24 hours, which, at the time was about 20 more miles.
So, even though I was happy with the experience and completing 100 miles, I was also sad that I was unable to push myself further.
But, as a friend told me, if you can’t be proud of the race you wished, be proud of the race you did!
I’m getting foot checked out today actually, to see what took place, because it is still hurting. Thank you for your continued support!!!!
It’s not about the SETBACK, it’s about the COMEBACK
